Tending to the needs of the elderly and providing quality long term care runs deep in the family of Caroline Hergenrother, owner and administrator of Holander House. Caroline's grandmother, Mildred Arfman, founded the first licensed nursing home in the state of Ohio.
Mildred's sister, Marie Henry, was a registered nurse and consultant to the family's facilities. Marie passed away on her 100th birthday, succumbing to Alzheimer's disease after nearly 20 years. The 3rd floor of Holander House is dedicated in her memory to provide for those with Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of dementia.
The Marie Henry Unit at Holander House customizes care around the needs of the special residents who live there.
